Traditional Japanese snacks are not only takoyaki or dorayaki. When traveling to Japan, travelers can also find out about Wagashi. Its very sweet, suitable for afternoon Japan Matcha tea.

With the journalist Sakai Asean Week 2014, get opportunity to see the making of Wagashi with a Wagashi Master, Kazuo Takada (67) in Agora Regency Hotel, Sakai, Japan. In this short class, Takada teach how to make Wagashi and explain a little history of this cake.

Takada explain, Wagashi is a traditioanal cake had been exist long long time ago. Takada have a Wagashi store since 1909. The shape of Wagashi has a lot of variation and made with touch of art so of course  its looks pretty and beautiful to see.

Usually the shape of Wagashi depend on the season in Japan. Red Wagashi is simbol of spring. Every Wagashi have different meaning depend on the season, for example Kasagikasi, this Wagashi special for tea ceremony event.

The ingredient for make Wagashi some local stuff from japan, one the the most importent is 'special' bean. This bean is very expensive. Because expensive so the taste is different. If using other bean the taste and texture will be different.

After shaped with cute and pretty, Wagashi ready to serve and to enjoy.
